Berlin-based Swiss musician Anna Erhard is opening a new chapter in her career with the release of her new single, “1000 Sheep.” The track marks the beginning of the campaign for her forthcoming album of the same name, which is set for release in February 2027.
Over the past years, Anna Erhard has established herself as one of the most distinctive voices in European indie pop. Her
music lives somewhere between the laid-back spirit of Kurt Vile and the inventive charm of early Beck, blending distorted guitars and lo-fi keyboards with witty storytelling. Delivered with her trademark nonchalance, her songs
transform everyday observations, travels and chance encounters into memorable musical snapshots.
Following the release of her third studio album Botanical Garden in 2024, which was widely acclaimed across Europe, Erhard embarked on sold-out tours throughout the UK and performed extensively across the continent.
Highlights of this period included an appearance at the legendary Glastonbury Festival as well as strong support from BBC 6 Music, featuring heavy rotation airplay and
several live sessions, including a recording at London's iconic Maida Vale Studios.
With “1000 Sheep,” Anna Erhard offers a first glimpse into her forthcoming album and once again showcases her ability to turn everyday observations and fleeting encounters into
witty, playful and captivating stories.
"After last summer’s festival tour, I wrote this song about a cute shepherd we met on his farm during one of our days off. In reality, we only exchanged maybe five sentences; the
rest of the story was invented by the band and me during long drives between shows, until we had convinced ourselves of this love story. Since I basically knew nothing about him, the main thing I celebrate him for in this song is
that he is incredibly good at counting sheep."
