Our monthly series brings together some of the most prominent voices in contemporary songwriting, hosted by Matthew Herd. The incredible Lily Lyons joins us this month for a London Jazz Festival special.

Lily Lyons

Raised between London and Somerset, Lily Lyons blends tender folk influences with emotionally incisive songwriting, creating songs that feel both intimate and quietly defiant. Inspired by artists such as Joni Mitchell, Nick Drake and Big Thief, Lily writes with a rare balance of softness and strength. Her work is rooted in honesty and human connection, embracing contradiction: joy alongside grief, tenderness alongside anger, stillness alongside emotional intensity. With a captivating live presence and a deeply personal approach to storytelling, Lily creates music that invites listeners into a world that is raw, healing, and unmistakably her own.

Her debut album, “Re-Open the World” was released in 2025 to universal acclaim, and was closely followed by a live album recorded last November at St Matthias Church in Dalston.
